Rebecca Metcalf’s Birth Story

Hiya Ann,

it’s Rebecca here from pregnancy yoga.
Just wanted to let you know my little girl arrived 13/2/20 – Isabelle Grace – weighing 7lb 4oz. 💕
I went into labour on my due date! The day after our last yoga session – maybe that’s what got things moving haha.
Labour started off really well- I was already 4cm when I got to the hospital after my waters broke at home. I was then able to be in the pool and really used the breathing techniques I learnt with yourself. Especially the ratio breathing which I used throughout my labour. Prior to being in the pool I used the birthing ball and the technique of resting my head against the wall. I feel the techniques learnt at yoga kept me active and helped me focus my mind.
Unfortunately the baby was back to back and her heart rate kept dipping down so I had to get monitored out the pool and eventually decision was made to have a surgical forcep delivery.
The main thing is of course that she was born safely and we are now both home after staying in hospital until the Sunday evening.
The staff at Arrowe park hospital have been fantastic and I felt so safe there. Also Sam from yoga has been regularly messaging which has been really lovely and i got to talk to Claire from yoga too who is part of the feeding team and her support was amazing too. Helped to see a friendly face in a new and uncertain time.
So I won’t be at yoga tomorrow! But I have loved every second. It had really helped me bond with my bump and keep my mind focused and calmer. Thank you so much for everything and I have really enjoyed your yoga sessions. Would recommend them to every pregnant person!
Thank you again 😘
