Saskia’s Story

” My baby boy, Oliver Henry was delivered on 3/8/2012 by emergency c-section. I was 42 weeks+1. I had to go in on tues 31/7 to be induced, but the first two attempts didn’t work. The doctor finally broke my waters on Thursday at lunchtime and I was put on a drip to start contractions. The drug worked a bit, but after 12 hours I was still only 2 cm dilated, so the doctor decided that a c-section was required. I was taken to theatre at 4 am and Oliver was delivered at 4.23 am with a weight of 8 pounds and 12 ounces. Throughout the three days I used a lot of the breathing exercises you taught us. The times they helped me the most was at the times of the internal assessments which were very painful. Most importantly though, they helped me to get through having the spinal. I was always very scared of having an epidural or spinal and utilising the golden thread breathing really helped me to calm down my nerves. It was all worth it though as Oliver is just so gorgeous and I love being a mum.

Thank you for all your help and support through yoga during my pregnancy. I was always looking forward to the yoga classes I attended and they always made me feel very relaxed.
Lots of love Saskia xx

PS: The balls in hospital were extremely small. If I would have known that my induction process would take 3 days I would have definitely taken my own!! I missed my ball in those 3 days!”
