Laura Curry’s Birth Story

Hello Ann and all you lovely yoga mum’s to be ! Callum James was born on 8th may 2018 at a healthy weight of 8 pounds. My waters broke early hours of Monday morning. I actually didn’t realise that this was the case and continued throughout Monday with my normal daily activities. It wasn’t until later on that day that I was checked out by the hospital who confirmed my waters had broken. I was sent home and told to return in the morning as I had been booked in for an induction. Upon returning home I went to bed. As my body relaxed my contractions came thick and fast. I did my best to manage the pain with ratio breathing and golden thread breathing. I also spent the the night on the ball. I arrived at arrowe park the following morning and was able to continue natural labour on my own. Again I managed my labour at this stage with techniques that I had been taught during our pregnancy yoga classes. After some time I was induced and due to babies position my pain rocketed out of my control. It was at this stage that I asked for medical intervention and had an epidural. Baby Callum arrived later on that evening. Overall what I have taken from this experience is that techniques learnt durung pregnancy yoga are great and help you to manage pain and relax however don’t be afraid to ask for pain relief if required. I had a birth plan in mind but kept an open mind during labour and was able to adapt and modify my birth plan. The end result still providing us with our beautiful baby boy. I would like to thank you Ann for all your help and support during pregnancy yoga. You offer a great class and I have made some life long friends. I will definitely be returning in the future with baby number 2. Lots of love Laura x
