Helen Quick’s Story

“Firstly, my main reason for emailing is to say a HUGE thankyou. I loved your pregnancy yoga classes, & the difference they made during my labour was amazing!

My labour came as a bit of a surprise, as it was over 2 weeks before my due date. Another major bonus was that my waters broke on my 40th birthday, which was a date I’d been dreading for years, as I thought I would never manage to become a Mummy. So it’s true what they say, that life begins at 40!!!!!!!!

So – my waters broke slowly during the day, & we went to hospital about 7pm to get checked out. They discovered that I was having contractions, although I couldn’t actually feel any pain at that point. They booked me in to be induced the following morning, so we bought some food in preparation for a hearty breakfast & headed to bed for a good nights sleep before the big event.

However, the baby had other plans … About 30 seconds after turning off the bedroom light, pain kicked in really strongly at 11pm. I had 4 or 5 irregular contractions in the first hour, then they were coming every 2 to 3 minutes after that. We headed to hospital about 1.30am, with me stopping to contract on my birthing ball at intervals right across the carpark!
