Helen Graston’s Birth Story

Hi Ann, it’s Helen. I just wanted to let you know that Evelyn Jane Graston was born on 28th May at 10.18pm weighing 9lb 4.5oz. We are sooooooo in love with her.

Sadly I had to stay in hospital with her and have only come home today after being there for 9 days. All the staff at arrowe have been amazing and I can’t thank them enough.

The birth sadly did not go to plan and lead to an emergency situation and I had to go to theatre. I will spare you those details. However during the labour before we had to go to theatre I was using my birthing ball at home and did take it to the hospital with me but sadly did not get the opportunity to use it at the hospital. I was able to use the breathing techniques and this did help with the pain alongside having baths at home. I particularly found the golden thread breath very helpful throughout. Using the breathing techniques helped to keep me calm when it went to an emergency situation and I am truly grateful for that.

I just want to say a massive thank you for all your help. I have thoroughly enjoyed pregnancy yoga and I will really miss it. It certainly has been very helpful for the labour. I hope to return to yoga soon as I have really enjoyed it, and before coming to your classes I had never been to a yoga class.

I hope your husband is getting better and I can’t thank you enough for all your help. Sending you lots of love, take care, Helen xxx.
